Can anybody give me any advice on spotting between periods?

thot my period had started yday so used a tampon. Its usually light at start so didnt thnk anythng of it. Went to change it an it seemed like it had stopped. Had the same thng again ths morning so again used a tampon bt now the same thng has happened. It appears as a normal period would bt isn't lasting?i've got sore breasts and have been bloated for the last while as normal. Does anybody have any ideas?Can anybody give me any advice on spotting between periods?

In a young woman spotting between periods is usually hormonal in origin, and can occur quite commonly on the Pill, when it is called breakthrough bleeding. Although you have now stopped your Pill, this could be the (harmless) cause.





It is unlikely in someone of your age to have any worrying cause. There is something called a cervical erosion, like a sore place on the neck of the womb that bleeds easily, that can cause these symptoms. These erosions are harmless but a nuisance, and can be treated. They are more commonly associated with bleeding after sexual intercourse. Polyps in the neck of the womb can also cause this.





If your spotting/trace of blood is only slight and lasts only a day or two then I think it is reasonable to wait and see, as it may not happen again. However if it persists, then go along to your doctor or family planning clinic and have a proper examination and perhaps a smear test, just to make quite sure there is nothing to worry about.





I also think this bleeding may be caused by something called implantation bleeding have you had any recent sexual incounters ( such as intercourse or semen close to your vagina)? Is there any chance any sperm could have got incontact with your vagina even a small amount? If the answer is yes this sounds like implantation bleeding implantation bleeding is when the egg has been fertilised an is implantating itself in the womb, this can cause light bleeding and cramping. What i would do after youve finished bleeding take a pregnancy test.





Either way i would suggest you contact your doctor in order so he/she can put your mind at rest further and resolve this issue for you.
