We have a baby gate in our kitchen arch to stop her from getting to other parts of the house and weeing. But we keep walking into the kitchen and finding her on the surfaces. Any help?My puppy keeps getting up onto our dinner table and our work surfaces! Any advice?
never let her get away with it once unless you want to see it all of the time. get a crate.
puppies can only ';hold it'; for one hour plus one for every month of age; in other words, 3 months = 4 hours. feed and water on a schedule, that way you can better predict elimination needs. three times a day let her eat and drink as much as she wants. then get her outside 15 minutes later until she ';goes';; praise and treat! give her one final watering around 8 PM, and outside in 15 minutes and a final outside before bed. be ready to get up in the night to let her out for the first Several months.
crate her when you can't watch her. never use a crate as punishment. it should be her cozy den.My puppy keeps getting up onto our dinner table and our work surfaces! Any advice?
If you can't pay attention to her, then crate her. You need a crate to properly housebreak her anyway.
Your puppy is going to the bathroom in the rest of the house because you're not paying attention to when she has to go.
Keep her off the table and other surfaces. If you've let her out of the crate them leash her to you, umbilical fashion. That way she must follow you around and you can watch her for any signs of needing to go outside.
Puppies need a lot of training so you need to keep telling your dog no when she does something wrong so she learns, but also tell her what a good dog when she does something good. I have a 2 1/2 year old dog that is house trained to go on a wee wee pad, I trained her with praise and treats. To this day when she goes on the wee wee pad she still wants a treat and I give her one. Find dog treats your dog likes and give her them when she does something good. Petco will let you buy treats and even open the package, if your dog doesn't like them you can return for a full money back refund.
well i think you should think about is it that easy to get up on the table if it is then change a few things around like moving the chairs and rearrenging the stuff on the table that way the puppy will be confused also get him interested in something else like give a dog toy so that way he be as interested in the table so much and make sure hes not too into the toy or he wont give it up and growl if you try to take it.
Puppies need constant supervision. When you are unable to watch her, she should be safely crated.
Some people put sticky surfaces up to stop cats from jumping. It could work with your puppy as well?
How did she even get up there?
push in all the chairs, spank her and tell her no each time she does this
