I'm kind of stuck in my search for a new career. I could use some professional guidance, but I'm out of school so school career counseling is not an option. Are there community resources or professional counselors available for people like me? And if so, where can I find them?Where can a person get advice on finding a new career after he's been out of school for a long time?
I do career counselling as a retirement hobby. If you would like to email me your CV I will help for free

I'm not a professional counselor, but I do know quite a few people that were in your situation. They have all started their own business's out of their home. From Daycare - Automotive things - private charters-down to direct selling. Each of them make an incredible amount of money, more than they would have with a 9 to 5 job. If you'd like their websites to their home based business's, email me and I'll be happy to send you some information on their business's and what you can do to start one up for yourself. Most of them started their business's for under $500, some are more depends on what you want to do. If you let me know where your interests are, I can start from there.
Good Luck to you!
you could try the job centre... how ever i dont think they give career advice.. try their website
if your in the UK the site is: www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk
you could also try to go to one of those career places which are designed for youngters... doesnt matter that you have left school.. coz advice is advice!
oh.. there is a website called Prospects.. for uni undergraduate, postgraduates and graduates. it gives you career advice and everything else.
the site: www.prospects.ac.uk
It sounds like roy S maybe a very good source of help to you. There are several different tests out there that you can take to see where you may fit in a new career based on your likes and dislikes, what you are interest in, etc. Check at your local library and online. These tests are very eye-opening, I'm sure that would help you make a decision. Also, your local Job Center, usually located within the same office you file for unemployment..they give you access to computers, job openings, help you apply and allow you to print info, do resumes, etc. Also, contact your local community action program, they would help and guide you to the names %26amp; numbers of community offices that can help you. Hope this is of some assistance to you, good luck in your search.
