I've been strongly considering getting involved in a career field involving conservation, trees, nature. I would love to care for trees. This may sound pretty naive, but I have a major fear of heights. I've done some research and it seems that in order to be an arborist it's very necessary to climb trees. I love studying trees, caring for the environment, and being in nature. Is there a field of tree study that doesn't involve the maintenance of trees and where I can still be in the field? Thank you for any advice. Can someone offer me some career advice with arborism?
There must be lots of options for you
For a start - how about the nursery side of things - its very satisfying collecting seed, germinating, pricking out the tiny seedlings and nurturing them - then planting and maintaining them
Another option could be botanist - study of plants and their characteristics
Environmental scientist - management of nature including trees
Forestry worker - working with trees but not necessarily up in the trees
Or the other option is - go see a therapist - to help overcome your fear of heights
Good luck -a couple of website for you with some options for you Can someone offer me some career advice with arborism?
