Dear... you need not to worry about that... i was also faced the same problem... so i know an exact solution for u ...

just practice the seminars or any presentations, atleast 1 hour per day, in front of a mirror before one or two days to the meeting by thinking some body are lestening u r words....

and just change u r role like an audion and ask questions on u r seminar which can be expecting in the next meeting and change u r role to speaker, then answer that question ...

while doing this... talk/ speak loudly, and do action linke in rela sceen...

and finally ... when u r entering to meetin hall... think that... every body rest of the meeting are dont know any thing and u only going to explain all the things to them...

this will help u to improve u r confidence....

thank u

Try to go over what you are trying to say in your head first, speak confidently, after all whats the worst that can happen?

Nerves and butterflies are fine they're a physical sign that you're mentally ready and eager. You have to get the butterflies to fly in formation, that's the trick.
There is a course run by BBC on personal development %26amp; presentation, I would suggest you, to get into this course in order to address the situation.

What are the chances of becoming a famous fashion designer? Help? Advice?

I have wanted to be a fashion designer but I am just thinking - how big are the chances of actually making it and being famous? Is it just like acting or modelling - all about the coincidence of factor of luck? Or is it that if you go to a good design school and have good ideas that you will necessarily be noticed? What happens after you go to design college? Any experiences or knowledge? What are the chances of becoming a famous fashion designer? Help? Advice?
It depends on what you want. Many of the ';top designers'; have no fashion design skill. Many can't sew or draft a pattern. They lucked out and found a team of people willing to listen to their ideas. I think it's a myth to think that in order to be a top fashion designer you must go to design school. Look at the links I posted.

There's a market for clothing obviously. There are many ways to participate in the industry. If you live in New York your chances of hitting it big are greater than if you live in the mid west. If you desire to have your clothes distributed world wide that's something else entirely. A few weeks ago I saw this show and this guy was talking about millionaire's %26amp; pants. Some girl made her own pants %26amp; by chance someone else saw her wearing them %26amp; ordered them. From there she's made millions. This girl didn't go to design school or have a business plan. Thing just happened. It's all in how you look at it. Of course by going to school you're trying to advance your chances of being a ';success.'; It all depends on what your idea of success is.

Does anyone have any advice for travelling to Normandy, Paris, and Dublin in January?

My friends and I are leaving for Paris at the end of this month. We are spending a week in Paris, a night in Normandy, and a week in Dublin. We could especially use advice regarding Normandy in January...as it is harder to travel there in winter.Does anyone have any advice for travelling to Normandy, Paris, and Dublin in January?
Is your question about what form of transportation to use, where to stay, or what to see? I'm not sure what you are looking for. I'm not sure how you are traveling.

Some places to go in Normandy:

Caen has a museum called the Memorial to Peace - it's about more than just world war II and the normandy invasion.

Bayeux has the Bayeux tapestry which I thought was very interesting.

Of course there are the WWII D-day beaches. I think the best two museums are the one at Arramanches where they built the artificial harbor and the one at the american cemetery. The one at the cemetery is free.

Good luckDoes anyone have any advice for travelling to Normandy, Paris, and Dublin in January?
I just want to add to Douglas' answer that you can also go to The Mont Saint Michel in Normandy. I live next to it and it's wonderfall. You can also visit Deauville and Honfleur which are beautiful (Deauville is famous for is American cinema festival, I don't know if you know it)... But everyplaces Douglas told you are great too.

It's not so hard to travel from Paris to Normandy in winter because you have some trains particularly to go to Caen. Then, when you'll be there, you can go everywhere we told you thanks to trains or bus.

  • Can i get some advice about Essure, the permanent birth control?

My husband and i have decided NOT to have any more children. Its a for-sure thing. I have heard about Essure, which is where they sterilize you WITHOUT having to cut into you, etc, and i can get it done in about 45 minutes. This seems much better than having a tubal.

Is there anyone out there who has had the Essure procedure done? The main thing i am concerned about is the rods coming out of place. What is the chances that that can happen?

Also, how will it affect my menstrual periods?

Would it be easier for my husband to get fixed, or me?Can i get some advice about Essure, the permanent birth control?
I had my essure procedure on Aug. 24, Once the rods are in place they do not move, they are inserted into your fallopian tubes and the rods expand to fit. The day of the procedure I came into the hospital I was put under mild sedation and less than 30 minutes later I was awake. No pain at all, and even the medication wore off quickly. After the procedure I had mild spotting. My menustration was normal as usual. I did notice the pinching sensation which I feel when im ovulating. Im a student I began school a couple days later and haven't thought about them since. I will have my hsg which is a procedure to ensure your fallopian tubes are occlused (blocked). This procedure is way easier than getting your hubby fixed. If you want me to explain the HSG procedure also I can do that. Hope this helpsCan i get some advice about Essure, the permanent birth control?
I am a reporter doing a story on Essure for Washington DC's District Chronicles. I am looking for either a patient who has gone through with Essure or a Doctor who has performed the procedure. If you are either please e-mail me. vsmithmedia@yahoo.com

    Here you go: http://www.essure.com/
Essure can be done in a doctor's office therefore reducing the anxiety and cost of being at the hospital or outpatient facility. It seems to be a much better alternative than a tubal. I've been witness to many tubals and a few essures and patients seem to tolorate the essure quite nicely. mild discomfort but plenty of drugs are administered. It is highly unlikely that the coils would come out. If they did it would be during the initial placement. The tissue in your tubes will grow around the coils and setting them in place for a lifetime. ALthough there have been reports of some surgeons misplacing the coils and perforating the tubes. However, if there is a perforation of the tubes with the coils, typically it won't bother you, but you would want to be careful of infection. You should definately discuss this with your gyno. Some women in the clinical studies reported temporary changes in their periods; however, very few women reported permanent changes. These temporary/permanent changes included:

Periods that were lighter or heavier than normal

Periods that were shorter or longer than normal

Spotting or bleeding between periods. HOpe this helps and again, I strongly suggest you bring up these questions with your gyno. It is very important to discuss your feelings and get your questions answered!! Good Luck!!
I am scheduled for my Essure procedure this coming Thursday so day after tomorrow. My husband and I do not have children and do not want any. I am excited about getting it done and keep checking back on this site for info/feedback. I have done my research and think it is an excellent choice..go for it.
If I'm not mistaken, it's easier for a man to get ';fixed';.

Hello i'm going to start a garden and would like some advice !?

i'm going to try to start a garden i want to start off simple and would like to know if there's anything i need to know about gardening . I'm going to start out with tomatoes, peppers , green peppers , maybe cabbage and or cucumbers . Is this too much for a beginner ? any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you !Hello i'm going to start a garden and would like some advice !?
My first question is , are you just going to till up a place in your yard? If so take the time to get all the grass out, that means breaking up the clotted dirt and throwing the grass away, you will have less grass/weeds if you do. Are you buying starter plants or staring with seeds? Since this is your 1st garden I would go with starter plants, cheap at walmart , Lowe's etc., Make your rows. I use sticks at each end and tie the string to keep rows straight. Follow directions on how far apart to plant. Tomatoes will do better if you put cages around them and tie them to the cage ( get the green stretchy tie stuff on a roll at Walmart). I would also add some organic matter to the soil to keep it loose, like landscape mix, organic humas and there is a new peat moss at Walmart it comes in bags. This will make weeding easier. Water, sunshine and good soil will give you a good garden. I use miracle grow fertilizer, does a good job. Hope this helps.Hello i'm going to start a garden and would like some advice !?
Tomatoes are a cinch to grow, as are peppers. Make sure you first start with plants, then go on to seeds if you want to some year. Cabbage is not really feasible, since one plant only grows one head. Cucumbers are OK. If you're new at it, start small, maybe a few tomatoes or other plants in containers, or a small area. If you want to have it really easy with your plants, lay down a layer of black plastic, weighting it down at the edges, and cut X's in it every 3 feet or so. Plant your plants in the X's, adding about a cup of Miracle-Gro (Miracle Gro for Tomatoes works like Viagra for tomatoes, peppers or eggplant). The black plastic will block out weeds, so gardening is much easier, plus it holds in heat and moisture. Good Luck!
tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers are easy to grow. cabbage is a cole crop, which means it thrives in cooler weather. a lot of people, myself included, do spring and fall crops of things like cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, collards, and spinach. if you like greens (collards, spinach, lettuce), those are all super easy to grow and like cooler weather; in the dead of summer you can still grow lettuce, but you want it to have some shade from the afternoon sun. onions are easy, so are radishes. the best advice i could give a beginning gardener is don't start off too big...a small, well-tended garden will produce every bit as much as an over-sized, poorly tended garden.

also...google ';companion gardening';. it will teach you what you can plant next to each other, and what to avoid planting next to each other. it will also teach you about planting different flowers and herbs in with your vegetables to increase flavor and deter bugs. for example...planting basil in with your tomatoes gives them a superb flavor, and basil is incredibly easy to grow. marigolds and nasturtiums tend to ward off bugs and can be inter-planted with lots of different vegetables. it makes for a very pretty garden to have lots of flowers intermingled, and it serves a purpose as well. good luck, and have fun!
not knowing where you live makes it harder to answer your question. my advice is to start small, so you don't get overwhelmed and give up because of weeds etc. make sure your garden is close to a water source. i never had success with cabbage because of cabbage worms, for a first timer, i would suggest planting string beans, they are simple and dependable. the only drawback with them is they will only produce for a few weeks.tomatoes, peppers and cukes are good choices. try growing your cukes up a trellis of some kind. i grow mine on some wire.fencing. they do very well and don't take up much ground space.another thing that's easy is squash. very easy and bountiful. you will get into it the more you do it. save a little cash, and it is enjoyable and relaxing.
squire foot gardening is getting popular as a concept, my adaptation is the four gallon milk crate - take groups of four and they are good for tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, cucumbers
I would check with a local nursery -- many have classes or seminars that can help. Here's a link on vegetable gardens:

Does anyone have any advice on fighting a speeding ticket?

I've heard that if the cop doesnt show up for court that the ticket can be dropped. Is this true?Does anyone have any advice on fighting a speeding ticket?
Police Officers have assigned court dates, and times. The only time an Officer doesn't appear, is when he is excused. If an Officer is not in court, it will be up to the Judge as to whether or not the case will be heard, continued, or resolved.Does anyone have any advice on fighting a speeding ticket?
Yes, because in the US you have the right to face your accuser and to question them and to present evidence. If the officer does not show up you can ask for and will be automatically granted a dismissal.

But, 99.9 % of the time the officer does show up. And if your just going to take the ticket to court to chance it, you are not going to be happy with the outcome. If he shows, you will get the full fine, points AND an added court cost that is on average $40 more!

So, my advice is that if you know you are in violation, either go to defensive driving school and get the points removed or just pay it and move on.
Cop don't have to be there unless you plead not guilty. If you enter a not guilty plea then you will likely be continued until he is there.

In any case go to a Traffic Law attorney and have him get the charge changed to a non-moving violation.

Never go to court without a lawyer to represent you. It will save you money in the long run with the cost of insurance - possibly a second ticket later (second offenses will cost you more)
Nearly every lawyer can get it reduced to a non-moving violation (no points). You'll most likely get fined the same amt. plus the lawyers fee ($100 +/- and worth every penny)
i have had several tkts over a 30 yr period and the cops always showed up.
Yes, it CAN be dropped, but you do have to plead ';not guilty'; when you first show up in traffic court.

When you contest a ticket, in California, you make an appointment for a court appearance. You, and several others will show up at the scheduled time. The officer does NOT have to appear, at this time.

One at a time, you will face the judge and make your plea. If you plead ';not guilty,'; the judge will instruct you to see the baliff and schedule your actual trial date. The judge will NOT listen to anything else you have to say.

If you plead ';guilty'; you will be allowed to explain any extenuating circumstances, such as, if you speedometer was not working, for example. In this specific case, if you bring in some documentation from a repair shop, showing the speedometer has been fixed, the judge will usually dismiss the charge and you are on your way. You may offer up any reasons you thing the judge may consider, to, either, reduce the fine, or dismiss the ticket. It is, of course, up to the judge. The thing you have to remember is, that you will have pled guilty, and that means that you will have admitted that you DID drive over the speed limit. You can offer yourself to be at the mercy of the court, which is a form of apology for doing it. Again, the judge may accept your apology and dismiss the fine, although the offence may still appear on the record.

    The only way the judge, at this hearing, will listen to anything other than your plea, is for you to plead ';guilty.';

If you plead not guilty, you will be scheduled for a trial. At this trial, if the officer does not appear, the judge may dismiss the fine AND the citation. If the officer DOES appear, it is, usually, a case of your word against that of a sworn police officer.

Here is the problem, about hoping the officer does not appear. If, at the time the speeding ticket was issued, you were belligerant, argumentative, threatening, (to take him to court) or did anything to call further attention to yourself, then, you can bet the officer will take plenty of notes about the incident and, when he DOES appear, will have a VERY detailed memory and account of you and the incident. Judges LIKE an officer with a clear memory for details. It makes the officer seem more credible. (his word against yours) An offender that draws that kind of negative attention to himself is one that the officer is more likely to WANT to go to court against.
True. Without the police officer showing up, the ticket is hearsay evidence and gets tossed.

But, just remember, if the police want the ticket to stick bad enough, he'll show up.

Most police depts schedule as many ticket hearings on the same day so the officer can appear at as many hearings as possible.
Well, if I show up I get time and a half.

    If I don't show up, I get a 2 day suspension.

Do you think I will miss it?
You can also say that the cop didn't know how to use the radar detector correctly (checking when he was last trained on it, or even if he/she was trained at all).

You can say that the radar detector was obviously not working correctly (challenging the last time it was calibrated) as you were not speeding.
Yes that is true in the state of Pa....not sure about any other states though.
Yep. In fact, the cop that wrote me a ticket was called to another case just before mine, and for some reason he disappeared from the court room, maybe to fill out paperwork on that case, have no idea. I stood before the judge, the officer didn't show when his name was called and my ticket was dismissed.

However, if he calls in sick, probably you will be rescheduled. In some communities, the officer doesn't have to show to court at all, and it is up to the judge. Often, no matter what, the judge will rule (depending on your driving record) that you will not get points on your record, will knock down the charge, and you will have to pay the court fees. I suggest going to court, just to get those points erased from your record, and take it easy on the gas pedal from now on.

If you were speeding, be honest and tell the judge why you were. Chances are good he will knock down the charge, based on your driving record, depending on the judge. I live in MI, guess it depends on where you live.
if your guilty, just pay the fine.

If the judge wants the officer there, He Will Be There..
That's true, but don't count on it. I've fought a few tickets and always end up looking like a jacka** in the end. If you did it , just pay it.

Use a piggy bank which can't be open, then you save money, other than that, if you want to buy something that is beyond your limit, think twice whether it's useful and essential to your live, that is the most significant thing and limit the time when you go out, because once you go out you started seeing things that you wish to buy.

Remember saved money wisely.Im a 13 yr old and want to save my money without using a bank. Can someone give me some advice?
um, may be try selling some home made cookies, or lemonade?

You should put money in a bank, they usually have special accounts for children that don't charge fees or anything.
Walk around the neighborhood and ask some of the elderly neighbors if there are some chores they need done.

Some older people are happy to pay someone to do some of the stuff they can't do without being in pain. Most of the chores are easy too.
first if you do not want to put you money in the bank but still want to save it you can buy savings bond -- at least your money will be drawing some interest your money!!! and for earning more money you need to network with all your neighbors and tell them you will do any job!!!!
    Sell some of ur stuff!

Also...how much should I expect to pay in order to maintain the bike every month/6 months/year?Can someone give me advice on buying a motorcycle?
take someone with you when you look at bike..that knows alot about bikes...are you female..?? first bike a 750..that's a weighty bike for a first one..??there are many things to look for...oil leaks...loose or holey exhaust....worn tread on tyres..make sure all electrics work..and nothing faulty

check suspension...check front fork seals (no oil leak)

seat not torn...any dents in fuel tank....has the bike been dropped..??? there are so many things

    consider buying something after 1992+

keeping it on the road will cost you fuel...small amount of oil..and rego and insurance not too much compared to a car

My family and I are moving to Edmonton Canada and would like advice on the areas around edmonton to live?

Areas around edmonton to live good and bad plus anything that we shouldn't do or shouldn't go.My family and I are moving to Edmonton Canada and would like advice on the areas around edmonton to live?
The first thing you'll become aware of is the shortage of apartments for rent. Those you do find will top the $1000 mark for a 2 bedroom in a decent neighbourhood. While there are lots of houses on the market right now for sale you can still expect to pay in the range of $350,000 for one. Even though the market has kind of levelled off don't expect to get an really awesome deals.

As to where you want want to look and places you may want to stay away from.

You may want to stay from the Chinatown, Boyle, MaCauley areas - what's called the Inner city area even though gradually the area is being cleaned and newer and retrofit condos are moving in. I also wouldn't recommend any of the areas bordered by 137Ave to 111 Ave and 110 St to 34 St (East side) it consists of gangs, prostitutes and you certainly wouldn't bring your family into this area. There are of course many NE communities that are safer than others but generalizing the entire area - many people would prefer to stay away from there.

Families would do well to make the Southeast a home - an older area with homes geared to the middle class - lots of schools and community recreational centers and shopping centers especially around the Bonnie Doon. to Capilano areas. The southwest area though generally called a ';great'; area is getting to be beyond the middle class worker's reach with the home prices skyrocketing. Millwoods though having something of a reputation does have areas that are generally not bad. Millwoods is very multicultural both in community groups and shopping. The west side of the city is very busy but is saturated with apts, strip malls and of course West Edmonton mall. Again you'll need to search to find something whether it's an apartment or a house in an affordable range.

You might even want to consider some of what are called ';bedroom communities'; smaller towns almost attached to Edmonton (within 10 - 15 minutes) but are their own municipalities. Ones to consider might be Sherwood Park to the east, St. Albert to the northwest or Beaumont to the southeast - little higher tax base and real estate values but still have that smaller town feel and a safer feeling. They also don't have as many rental units therefore finding one might take a bit of more energy and extra cash for them. Houses in these areas also tend to be a little more expensive than many areas of the city itself.

St. Albert and Sherwood Park both have all the amenties that the city has to offer - shopping, transit, libraires, etc. Beaumont is the smallest of the three and though growing doesn't yet have all the same amenties but is so close to Millwoods and South Commons it's not much of an inconvience.

You can go a little further to Spruce Grove, Stony Plain (both to the west of the city) or even Fort Saskachewan (northeast of the city) which are in the 20 - 30 minute drive range depending on which part of the city you need to get to. Houses prices are just a little more reasonable though not by much. Again all three have all the amenties that you would find in the city pretty much. Nice communities if you don't want the actual city life. You will need a vehicle to get to the city from these.

If you're planning on purchasing a home do your research - grill the Realtor about the area's safety or better yet call the police station and ask them about the crime rate in that area - that's what I did. Ask at the convenience stores and gas stations about the safety issue as they are the ones who usually get ';hit';.

You've probably done some research on Edmonton already to know that it has tons and tons of green spaces and trails around the city.

Here are some websites that might be of interst to you.

A good way to get to know the city is by reading the local newspapers so here are a few.

Good Luck.My family and I are moving to Edmonton Canada and would like advice on the areas around edmonton to live?
GOOD LUCK - housing is scarce!
You might want to consider St. Albert. This is a smaller community of 50,000+ people right next to Edmonton but it is very family friendly and has great recreation. There is also opportunity for bilingual schooling. Our family absolutely loves it here .
Before purchasing, ask some locals about the neighbourhood. Edmonton has a lot of crime, but it is mostly gang or drug related. If you stay out of the problem areas of the city, you should be ok. Maybe look in surrounding communitites like St. Albert, Spruce Grove, Sherwood Park or Leduc.
Housing prices in Edmonton are quite high, although the market has softened a bit. Expect to pay around $350 thousand for a three bedroom home in good condition.

Prices are cheaper on the north side of the city.

Sherwood Park, St. Albert and Beaumont are nice bedroom communities within 10 minutes of the city proper, and if you're willing to drive further, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Morinville and Ft. Saskatchewan are all within 30-40 minutes of Edmonton.
Well first of all housing is really scarce and prices are high so good luck. Both the north and couth side are really nice. I would stay away from downtown house wise.. Its not a nice ares!

Should I get professional advice if I have to masturbate myself before sleeping at night?

I have this problem since I was 12 years old. I didn't know pornography until that day; I had an cursh on it. Then I continue doing it in a weekly basis. When I got to college, I got very nervious in exams, so I would masturbate to ';relax my self';. The worst of it was in the last semester of college when I got an Hernia becuase I was too tense in final projects. I was in a surgery to solve that problem. After 2 years from that, I continue to do masturbation at night. It seems I can't sleep if I don't do it. I want to quit doing it. What should I do?Should I get professional advice if I have to masturbate myself before sleeping at night?
Relax! I started masturbating when I was 12/13 and was similarly torn by how powerful the sex drive can be.

If you want to abstain from sex, that's fine...but just recognize that you will be working to ignore one of the two most powerful urges that humans have (the drive for sex and the drive to feed ourselves are both powerful)...so dont feel guilty if you fail at abstaining.

on the flip side, masturbation is normal and healthy, and you should have little reason to feel guilty about doing it.

from a purely biological point of view, your job on this planet is to mate and pass on your genes...so you're going to feel ';horny'; a lot between ages 13-45Should I get professional advice if I have to masturbate myself before sleeping at night?
Some people may think this is a real problem but it is only one if you think that it is I myself have been doing this for alto of years and find nothing wrong with it.
why stop it if it feels good, it is normal to masturbate, heck if it helps you relax than what's the trouble
Well, you don't seem you really want to quit it either way. Best solution is to, well, limit yourself. Give and take a number of times you do it a week. Then slowly decrease the number. Besides, it's all about self control. Nonetheless, it IS a problem if it's a MUST for you. It being a habit is bad.
Don't worry about it dude. One of the latest health magazines (maybe ';Prevention';) recommended that guys who have trouble falling asleep should masturbate because the orgasm releases neurotransmitters that will make you sleepy--which is why guys always want to go to sleep after having sex.
you should seek professional advise if masturbating is already hampering your productivity or it's causing you physical deterioration. As it is, most guys would jerk off too to get a good sleep.

    Otherwise, you're okay dude....
yes you should...dont worry though...it is nothing to be ashamed about all guys go through it.....but yes get help....if any1 messes with you about it ignore them.....

    xoxo

    ~Courtney~
    Get yourself a lover.

    Problem solved.
always have several spoons in your fridge. when the time comes that you feel the urge to masturbate, go grab a cold spoon in your fridge and press it against your dick.
relax freaky-- Its only a problem if ur wearin it down to a nub or u cant take care of ur ADL's (all the stuff u need to do on a daily basis). Anyway, why on earth would u want to stop- If u have fears of injury u can always wear goggles and shoot for the hopefully non-carpet based floor. Tunnel carpal is a rare but definite possibility-- There is Medical insurance for that or u can just blame ur job for the ahhhh injury. make peace with ur piece

What is the best advice you can give someone going to an Interview ?

I have one tomorrow !!What is the best advice you can give someone going to an Interview ?
You already have the job, you just don't know it.

What is the best advice you can give someone going to an Interview ?
    Just DON'T BE YOURSELF!

-and (if you're a girl): look at the person's eyes ALL THE TIME except occasional looking to your left while you're need to talk for a bit longer.

-and (if you're a dude): you don't stand a chance. (Cause clothing companys don't hire straight males, right?)

Occasional smiles ONLY while you're talking, and don't forget; if they're looking someone reliable, while you're listening to person: puff your lips (like teens in america do nowadays), but JUST A BIT, they tend to overdo it, to get a serious look.

prepare what you are going to say:

why do you want this job?

what are your strengths and weaknesses?

where do you see yourself in 5 years?

describe how you overcame a challenge?

how would you lead a team?

    etc

remember, the interview could be a new experience for them as well.
    Keep calm.

Always look at the interviewer when answering questions.

If you need to pause before answering a question, so you can think, then don't be afraid to do so.

    Sit up straight.

    GOOD LUCK.
Tell them you're honored to be there. If they ask your preference on pay, etc., answer ';open';. Don't present yourself as arrogant.
Be real, be honest, be clean, and don't use a lot of perfume. Thats it.
Firm hand shake and look them strait in there eyes when you talk.

    GOOD LUCK
yer ask how many immigrants work there if say lots you know they like cheap labour
    in a word..relax

Any advice on mailing/shipping a 65 lb metal statue?

The statue will be shipped/mailed within the continental US. It measures about 18 x 28 x 14 inches. Though it is metal, I do not want it to get dinged or damaged. What kind of box/crate should I get and where can I get it? I prefer to buy it in person (not via the internet or Ebay)? Thanks. Any other suggestions you might have will be appreciated.Any advice on mailing/shipping a 65 lb metal statue?
go to the UPS store with the statue and let them figure out the best way to ship itAny advice on mailing/shipping a 65 lb metal statue?
Take the item to one of those private mailers - one of those places that accept UPS or FedEx shipments and mail things for you through the USPS. They sell postage, etc - everything a post office sells, but at a much higher rate. Buy the packaging from them (box and packing material), but take it to the USPS to mail it. Dont't let them mail it. You will get a much cheaper rate from the Post Office than what they will charge you to mail it. They, afterall, are in the business to make money and they are really the middle guy, but they have the odd size boxes %26amp; materials.
Build your own shipping crate with pallet jack or forklift capabilities and use a motor freight shipper. Fed Ex and UPS will both turn down a 65# item.
FedEx bought Viking Freight So Fed Ex is competitely priced as far as bulk shipping goes and you get a tracking # and all fed exs are automatically guaranteed to $500.00

You need to Crate the item in a way that other items may be stacked on it during shipping

I would go to fed ex, show em the piece and ask em how do they want it and how much will it be figure the cost of crating materials and the value of your time building it versus going to a shipping type place that will crate and ship it for you. get a quote, compre the prices and may the best option win.
I would recommend calling or taking the statue to your local UPS store. I'm sure there are other postal stores that can help you too but UPS has always been helpful to me when it comes to mailing large packages.
There are shippers/couriers that make these crates to specification. In order for the crate to work, you need to add about a foot to each dimension, so your crate should measure

30 x 40 x 26. Make sure you tell them you want these to be the INSIDE dimensions. To better protect your statue, you should also get a heavy cardboard box about 22 x 32 x 18. Bubble wrap your statue and pack in the cardboard box first and then pack that in the crate. make sure you use plenty of packing peanuts to the point that the crate is overflowing with them. They will settle.

    Bon voyage, statue!
i would call the airline you are sending it through and ask them what to do. they will most likely tell you what you need. and where to go to do this.

  • I'm having trouble passing a lifeguard course because of the 300 yd swim test, any advice?

I have practiced the 300 yd swim test many times and I still can't pass it. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips?I'm having trouble passing a lifeguard course because of the 300 yd swim test, any advice?
Well, start out slow. Find a pool u can go to every day or every other day, then just do 100 yard until it gets easy or easier for u. Then move to 200 yard and do the same. Then try doin the 300 yard.I'm having trouble passing a lifeguard course because of the 300 yd swim test, any advice?
If you do lifeguard certification through Ellis %26amp; Associates you only have to swim 200, maybe even 100.

Either way, go at your own pace. The reason I struggled in my class was that I tried to keep up with the other students in the class ( who were all competitive swimmers). I ended up exhausting myself and failed that test.
Well, if you have truly practiced and you still can't do it...maybe you just can't do it.

What advice would you give to someone in the beginning stages of dating a Military guy?

dont get mad when he has to cancel plans last minute b/c of work, or that he wont be able to celebrate your birthday because he'll be in the field or deployed.

dont sleep in the barracks... he can get in some deep trouble if you get caught there. What advice would you give to someone in the beginning stages of dating a Military guy?
You can't get mad at him if he has recalls. You can't get mad at him if he has to go in super early, stay late, or works unruly shifts. You can't get mad at him if he has a TDY, and you absolutely cannot get mad at him because he was picked out of the bucket for a deployment. I'm sure you get the picture.

Even though you may be just a girlfriend, no matter what stage the relationship is in, the one thing that you MUST remember no matter what is that serving his country comes before everything. It sucks, trust me on this one, but above all Uncle Sam has to come first.

Be supportive of his job, and what he has to do. DO NOT go sleeping around if he's not there all the time - that's disrespectful not only to him, but that's giving women who date military men a bad reputation, and it's also brandishing the wives as well.

I will tell you that it wasn't easy growing up as a military child, and it's sure no cake walk on the other side of the bridge as a military spouse. So if your relationship goes further and you both start thinking marriage, seriously honey - your time and relationship has to revolve around the military so you better have one hell of a STRONG independant spirit within you. You'll be needing it at the end of the day. What advice would you give to someone in the beginning stages of dating a Military guy?
Be careful if you don't want to get hurt... and I don't mean by him... I mean, if it gets serious, think about the long term. You'd better have one hell of a sense of independence, and be able to be faithful regardless of strenuous circumstances.

Oh.. and as for the barracks thing... yeah, definitely not a good idea to get caught there when you shouldn't be there. I went across the country to marry my husband and we didn't plan as well as we should have... ended up with me hiding in the barracks for a little while as we were waiting for the BAH and whatnot to kick in so we could go get a place... got caught dressed in nothing but a blanket by hubby's 1st sgt when they had a surprise inspection during PT.
dont trip!!! military life is very busy with crazy work hours!!! dont get mad if you dont get to spend the time that you want with him or last minute he has duty or has to cancel plans to go to the field.... you kinda have to plan your relationship AROUND the military! i know that sucks but thats the way it is!!!!! Dont worry if you really like each other you will find a way to talk or hang out!
He's a guy just like any other. He just has a very inflexible job. Thats about it.
If he has a loser job choice for the military that can't transfer to the civilian world and enlisted dump him.
be realistic military people they are on the go all the time so be prepared other that its fun and you never know where will take you.
    be flexible. No pun intended.

What advice do you have for someone who wants to build their own website?

I need all the help I can get. Thank you for your assistance. Please give some great answers. What advice do you have for someone who wants to build their own website?
Do it. You can build one here on yahoo. they have a free web site builder you can download. Yahoo site builder. or go to http://www.bluevoda.com/ they also have free site builder software which is much better. You'll have to hunt if you want to find a place that will host your site for free. It's relatively cheap. Look for a site that will give you the most space. Yahoo business gives you 6 gig I believe. plenty enough for photos and other stuff. blue voda gives you like 600 gig. You could post the library of congress on that. I think blue voda is about 10 dollars a month with a 25 dollar setup fee. That's to register your domain name. Your personal info will be recorded as owner of the site that's the law. anybody can go to a number a different data bases and see who owns the site (Network Solutions, RIPE, Melissa data etc..) If you actually want to start learning HTML code and all that. That takes time. With FREE site software you can have a site up and running in an hour. Plus with something like blue voda you can build your site first then go into the settings and see how an already set up and working site page is built. From there you can do what you want. What advice do you have for someone who wants to build their own website?
I've been working on one through http://geocities.yahoo.com. That's the only way I know how to do it. To make it more personal, I've saved images and designs and put them on PhotoBucket to easily upload them to the site.

It's good to learn HTML coding, though I don't know how to apply it to the Yahoo!/Geocities websites.
Firgure out what you want to include and then draw out the screens by hand before you jump in. This will save you a lot of time recoding things later on when you want to make changes.
hook up with google so you can get rich like ashbo did on whaterverlife.
    try googlepages

    1) Think large for the long term, but think small in the beginning. Start your business by contacting people that you know ( friends, family, neighbors etc. ). Let these people know that you are in business, and explain to them what a convenient service you provide.

    (2) Network your subscription business as a fund-raiser. Contact local schools, churches, civic groups etc. who want to raise money for their organization and keep a percentage of sales as your profit.

    (3) Take advantage of any gift giving occasion ( holidays, birthdays, engagements, graduations, etc.) Keep a log of all special occasions for your customers.

    (4) Contact local business who having waiting areas (family doctor, pediatrician, dentist, beautician, mechanics etc.) This is an excellent opportunity for you to offer your service at little or no additional cost to the customer.

    (5) Ask existing customers for referrals. Most businesses get their start this way. For example: Your beautician built his or her client base from referrals of existing customers. Word of mouth is the most powerful form of advertisement.

    (6) Contact your local Chamber of Commerce to get a listing of businesses ( and their address / Phone Number) in your area. Write a letter of introduction, or use our suggested letter of introduction, to contact them. There may be a small fee to get this list.

    (7) Contact large businesses in your area.

    (8) Keep updates on new residents in your area. Write a letter to welcome them to the community and tell them about your service. Form a business relationship with a local company that deals with major purchases ( real estate brokers, car salesman ).

    (9) Build relationships with your customers. Follow up with existing customers on a regular basis ( every 3 mos. ) . And there are NO problems. Hint: Customers follow up is crucial to your business. If you do not follow up, your credibility can be destroyed. If you only call your customers once a year (when it is time to renew ), they will be less likely to renew through you if there have been problems and you were not available to handle them throughout the year

Any advice for losing about 8 pounds in the next 3 weeks?

I can find time to exercise for an hour about 4 times a week between now and then, but I'm not sure what the best quick weight loss exercises would be. I don't eat meat (although I do eat/drink dairy products), so any high protein low carb thing won't really work for me. Thanks!Any advice for losing about 8 pounds in the next 3 weeks?
    Rapid Weight Loss Plan

    General Information

This diet is also a fast and is fat- burning. The key is that you will burn many more calories than you will take in. It will flush your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well- being. This diet does no lend itself to drinking any alcoholic beverages at any time b/c of the removal of fat build- up in your system. Go off the diet for at least twenty-hours before consuming any alcohol.

Because each person's digestive system is different, this diet will not have the same effect on everyone. After three days, if you don't cheat, you will have more energy that before you began. After you have been on the diet for several days, you may find that your bowel movements have changed and you may need to eat a cup of bran or fiber. Although you can have black coffee with this plan, after the third day you may find that you don鈥檛 need the caffeine.

The Basic Fat Burning Soup can and should be eaten anytime you feel hungry鈥?eat as much as you want. Remember, the more of the soup you eat, the more you will lose.

Definite no-no's on the plan are:

    鈥?Breads

    鈥?Alcohol

    鈥?Carbonated drinks (including diet)

    鈥?All fried foods

This diet will not interfere with any prescribed medication. You can eat broiled chicken for the beef if you wish, but absolutely no skin on the chicken. If you wish you can substitute broiled fish for beef on one of the beef days. You need the high protein from beef on the other day. Continue this plan as long as you wish and feel better both mentally and physically.

    The Basic Fat Burning Soup

    6 large onions

1 to 2 cans of tomatoes

    1 large head of cabbage

    2 green peppers

    I bunch of celery

1 package of Lipton soup mix

Season with salt, pepper, curry, parsley if desired, or bullion, or hot sauce.

Cut vegetables in small to medium pieces and cover with water. Boil fast for ten minutes. Reduce to simmer and continue cooking until vegetables are tender. This soup can be eaten anytime you are hungry. Eat as much as you want, whenever you want as this soup will not add calories. The more you eat, the more you will lose. Fill a thermos in the morning if you will be away during the day. If eaten alone for an indefinite period of time, you would suffer malnutrition.

    Day 1

All fruits except bananas. Cantaloupe and watermelon are lower in calories than most fruits. Eat only fruits with soup. For drinks, use unsweetened tea, cranberry juice or water

    Day 2

All vegetables eat al the fresh, raw or canned vegetables until you are stuffed. Try to eat green, leafy veggies and stay away from dry beans, peas, corn. Eat them along with the soup. At dinner only on this day, reward yourself with a big baked potato and butter. Do not eat any fruits.

    Day 3

Eat the soup, fruits and veggies you want. Do not have a baked potato.

If you have eaten as specified for three days, and have not cheated, you will find you have lost between five to seven pounds.

    Day 4

Bananas and skimmed milk. Eat as many as three bananas and drink as many glasses of water as you can, along with the soup. Bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates as is the milk, but on this particular day your body will need potassium, carbohydrates, proteins and calcium to lessen you craving for sweets.

    Day 5

Beef and vegetables. You may have 10 to 20 ounces of beef plus a can of tomatoes or as many as six fresh tomatoes on this day. Try to drink six to eight glasses of water to flush the uric acid from your body. Eat the soup at least once on this day.

    Day 6

Beef and vegetables. Eat the beef and veggies to your hearts content on this day. You can even have two or three steaks if you like, with green, leafy veggies but no baked potato. Be sure to eat the soup at least one time.

    Day 7

Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices and veggies. Once again, eat all you want. Be sure to have the soup at least one time.

At the end of the seventh day, you should have lost ten to seventeen pounds if you have not cheated. If you have lost more than fifteen pounds, stay off the diet for two days before resuming the diet from one day.

This seven- day eating plan can be used as often as you like. If correctly followed, it will cleanse your system of impurities and make you feel better than ever.

After only seven days, you will have an abundance of energy and will feel much lighter. Continue with the plan as long as you wish as feel the difference!

Any advice for someone starting a mother and toddler group?

Two of my friends and I are going to start a local mother and toddler group as those we have been to do not really offer as much as we'd like. It will be totally non profit and we just hope to provide children with a variety of fun activities. Has anyone started a group and do you have any advice? Thanks!Any advice for someone starting a mother and toddler group?
As a play group you won't need insurance or to rent a facility either. You're not offering daycare or childcare so it isn't applicable to you. People that join do so ';at their own risk'; as it were and take responsibility for their own actions and children.

    * Advertise about your group in your neighborhood, church or even local gym or kids things that your children are in to let people know about it.

    * come up with a name for your group that will get people's attention in a positive way and that says who you are.

    * some play groups offer a snack at each venue or a craft once a month. Decide if you want to do a rotating snack schedule with members or if you want to charge a flat membership fee for a year to cover snacks and craft items if you choose to do this. Most groups are between $20 - $30 per year to join for a mom and a child. Make someone you trust treasurer to keep track of funds and how much is spent. Some groups are a 100% free to belong system and if admissions or small fees are required for participation they mark it as such on the announcement or group calendar so people know in advance.

    * Once you get people interested in groups ask which days they are most available and if that is morning or afternoon. Plan your activities and group things around times when the majority of people can attend.

    * Alot of play groups require that members must attend a certain number of venues each month to remain a member. One's around me require 2 venues per month to stay an active member and to remain on the membership register.

    * set rules for your group as to what is or isn't going to be allowed up front. Make parents responsible for the behavior of their children. Make an age limit for the minimum age of child your group can accomodate to the oldest. It is a good idea to state that ';mom must attend with the child as this is not a sitting service'; type statement. If you want your group to be focused around a particular interest or religious faith you need to state that as well in your membership information. It's also a good idea to state upfront to members your chain of command in the group for leadership purposes as well as how unruly children are to be dealt with during the group and what will constitute reasons for a member to be asked to leave the group membership.

    * decide if you want to be year round or just during the school year from Sept. - May with a group hiatus in the summer months June-Aug.

    * it is also a good idea to come up with a way to meet potential new moms for the group BEFORE placing them on the membership list. In this day and age you can not be too careful. Make sure that someone who is interested in the group is normal and an actual mom. Maybe arrange a few ';new members lunches'; at a local restaraunt where you and other helper mom's can meet these new mom's face to face since this is a group for children as well. You don't want someone that screams ';pedophile'; from their behavior or someone who is hostile in nature around children or other people for safety reasons as well as group harmony.

    * scout out community locations and offerings to start your group. Barnes and Noble does free story times, so do libraries. Look for safe parks that would make nice picnic or play meeting areas for young children. Offer a weekly walking group at a park or neighborhood for mom's who want to walk and maybe a monthly scrapbook night for mom's into that. Consider having a once a month ';mom's night out'; for just the mom's to go to dinner or a movie together without the kids. If you have bounce places near you ask if you could book the place for the group for a couple hours and if they offer a group discount for groups of a certain number or more. Things that will appeal to larger numbers of people will attract more people to your group.Any advice for someone starting a mother and toddler group?
    Find out the insurance implications.

Better to find a hall that will provide storage for all the toys/toilet equipment etc. Be very health and safety conscious.

Decide whether you will run term time only, and find out what day(s) people will find best to attend. You could ask around at other groups or at the health centre on baby day.

Set an affordable charge, but make sure you cover your costs.

Ask the local health visitor to advertise your group for you.

Put information in the local library and in shops/surgeries etc that permit free posters; and tell all your friends.

    Good luck!

  • When will some of you listen to good advice, about Lewis?

He has Pole in Indy. His phenominal performances since entering F1 has took the world by storm. But some of you still criticise him and you are British. We have to get behind him all the way he is a Super star thats our Lewis. When will some of you listen to good advice, about Lewis?
Believe me, he will get his due credits if the British press stops hyping him beyond the known cosmos. Even that would have been fine if it werent at the expense of some established names. I believe the alleged Alonso-Hamilton feud too is the work of journalists who have run out of praise words. When will some of you listen to good advice, about Lewis?
I am already sick and g.d. tired of people yapping about Lewis Hamilton. He's good, but geez, get it over it already.
But if you think about it, its not fair because other british drivers feel left out if you think about it.
well said i hope he kicks alonso ar-- tommorow i will be supporting him untill he retires which will be quite a few years from now, the sacrifices his family have made for him only goes to his credit and he will repay them for what they have done for him ,the lad comes accross as a very nice man here is my toast to him
Ermmm, the only person I've heard having a beef about Lewis Hamilton is Senor Crybaby Alonso..... who is Spanish.
I've been a fan since I was chuffed to see a black kid in the back of 'Autosport'!

Its a very British, ney English phenomenon- we encourage the best from some usless sports people and when they dont succeed, we congratulate them.

You either have to be a bloody bitter loser (Nigel Mansell constantly getting his *** kicked in the 80's) or a demi god loved around the world (Beckham).

Lewis is an Englishman doing well, being extremely professional and has raced on an oval for the first time and been . . .well words fail me. I wish him all the best and i will support him for the remainder of his career.

He said it himself, i'm not like everybody else, I cannot WAIT for him to get to Spa!!!
It seems to be normal to knock those doing well. Its nice to have a Brit doing well in F1 again.
Ive been singing his praises since GP2, the guy is a winner and knows it, and his confidence is growing each race !!.
Funny I haven`t seen any criticism of him, only from Alonso. If anything I thought he was being over hyped and was concerned it would put too much pressure on him,but he`s handled it admirably both inside and outside the car.

What advice would you give to someone starting out in graphic design?

My wife and I have an SUV and an outrageous monthly payment due to inequity. Any advice to get out?

My wife and I first purchased a car with a salvage title. After about a year, we needed something bigger, so we decided to look at a Rav-4. After trading in our car for the Rav-4, we were faced with some inequity, but not too bad. Then, after driving the R4 for about a week, we were very unhappy with how it drove and sounded, so we went back to the dealership and asked if we could look at another car.

I guess customer satisfaction was not on their list and they said that even though they still had our freshly signed paperwork, we would have to trade it again. We said no and went to look for something else. Finally, we found a dealership that was very nice and they helped us get rid of the lemon, but now we are faced with an outrageous monthly payment and inequity for the next five to six years.

Please help! We are paying on the loan and the monthly minimum is going down, but it will be years before relief is in sight. Refinancing is out of the question. Any advice? Thanks! My wife and I have an SUV and an outrageous monthly payment due to inequity. Any advice to get out?
You should find a way to continue paying on the car you have. The mess you're in can't be easily corrected in a short time. Meanwhile, I would suggest becoming a little more knowledgeable about buying and financing cars through sites such as Edmunds.com. For example, you'll learn that trading cars and rolling over negative equity is a bad cycle to get into because it's so hard to get out of, as you've now found out. Also spend more time researching and test driving your next car so that you won't want to return it later. My wife and I have an SUV and an outrageous monthly payment due to inequity. Any advice to get out?
This dealership that was ';very nice'; messed up your finances, didn't they? That wasn't very nice.

My advice is to cut your expenses, and save up some money. The only way you can change your vehicle is to take ANOTHER whipping. That must be obvious to you after 3 whippings. It takes money to pay for these whippings, so save up some. I'm assuming you have no money, because if it were possible to improve your situation by paying cash, I'm sure you would have thought of that on your own.

In the future, you may also want to avoid the whippings by not over-borrowing on new cars, or not buying them at all, or leasing, or keeping them until they're worn out.
There is no ';buyer's remorse'; law when it comes to auto sales. I don't know why some people think there is, but there is no law in any state that allows you to cancel an auto contract.

You made some bad choices, you signed the paperwork and agreed to the terms. Ever thought about getting a second job to supplement your income so you can make the payments you agreed to? I know that's not the ';easy'; way out, but you'll feel a lot better about the whole thing knowing you pulled yourself out of a self-created financial hole in an honorable manner.
Buy a lottery ticket, and when that doesn't pan out. Check to see if you have gap insurance on your loan if you do have stolen, by a pro. Gap may not pay off the entire negative equity, but it will help unbury you.
looks like your screwed. you cant r=trade in a car twice and expect to be ahead.

you would be better off if it where stolen so you couls start over. otherwise make payment until you are out from under it.

Any solution you choose to refi is only going to make someone else more money and get you deeper in debt.
First, check if there is a ';buyer's remorse'; law in your state. Just google ';buyers remorse.'; But those laws are very limited, you have only 3-days to return the car.

If there isn't, you don't have many options. Car dealers are in the business of selling cars. The moment you drive the car off the lot you are the legal owner. Even if you go around the block and come right back and say ';I've changed my mind'; they will only give you the depreciated value of the car. Could they just tear up the paperwork and start over? Sure. Would they? Not on your life. The fact that you're already upsidedown on your payment makes matters worse. You owe more on the car the the car is worth.

I'd hate to state the obvious, but you should have done this calculation before signing on the dotted line. Though it can't help you, hopefully anyone else reading this will think long and hard about their financial abilities before embarking on a 5 yr financial commitment.
i highly dought you had a lemon Rav 4 they are very cheeply biuilt and have very poor build quality you probably would not have had any problems with it mechanicly they are pretty reliable car but they are noise have harsh ride and are really porly built. as for the prediciment you are in now there is not much you can do you should have dealt with the rav4 for at least 2 or three years so that you would not have had inequity in it and you may even have had some equity. toyotas hold there value well but no car can be traded in in the first year or two and get what you owe back out of it the initial depreciation when you first buy a car (making it a used car) is huge. Best advise is to keep the current car untill you have paid it off and make sure you are sure about your next car dont be afraid to ask for multiple test drives both in city and highway traffic (some dealerships will even let you take a car for a weekend if they think you are serious) we have taken a few vw home for the weekend and it helps alot we almost bought a bug TDI but after having i for the weekend realized it was too small so we took a jetta TDi for the next weekend and ended up buying that.
    Get a better job.

You're in a bad position, but you put yourself there by making bad decisions. Take it as a lesson learned and try to save up money to pay it off early. On your next car, don't finance under any circumstances. That, and your inability to pick out a good car, is what got you into this predicament.
Unfortunately, what the others have said is correct in that there is no quick or easy way out of the situation you are in. The best thing you could do for yourself is to pay as much as you can as fast as you can, that will limit the overall amount of interest that you will pay in the end and is the only thing that could help you save some of the extra money that this situation will cost you. Look on the bright side...you learned a lesson, a hard one no doubt, but one that will make you more prepared next time you buy a car.

I have an interview for Event Sales and Marketing Trainee, what specific advice could you give me?

It is a new company. I'll be interviewed by the business developement manager or the managing director. I wish to study business management but don't know much about it. If I was asked about that, what should I consider as applicable answers?I have an interview for Event Sales and Marketing Trainee, what specific advice could you give me?
Don't ';prepare'; any answers. The interviewer has heard all the prepared answers 1,000 times. Answer from your heart. Take a second to think about the question, then answer. If you don't know, don't guess.

A new company will be struggling to squeeze into a crowded field. Be sure that you also apply at all the existing companies, too. They will have business for you on your first day. A new company won't have anything for you to do. That is why they are so concerned about ';entrepreneurial'; ability. They are looking to you to drum up business and that is really hard.I have an interview for Event Sales and Marketing Trainee, what specific advice could you give me?
You need to prepare for your interview in advance. Make sure you know exactly what they do and what they require in the candidate.

For this role, you need to have sound communication skills, so speak clearly. You may also be asked to conduct a presentation on something, so make sure you sharpen your presentation skills.

They may ask you to give them an example of a scenario where you are involved in a specific exhibition event so again, make sure you prepare for that.

In all fairness, it is a trainee position, so I don't think they will try and catch you out with difficult questions, you just need to show willingness for the role and that you are flexible in where you work and that you have the assertiveness to do the job.

    Good luck

I need LOTS of advice on icing/decorating a birthday cake.?

I am making a 12';and 9'; round, three level cake. I was planning on freezing it overnight to make icing it easier, but how long do I wait to ice it after I take it out? I was going to buy a cake leveler, but wouldn't it be easier just to turn the cakes bottom up? I plan on adding candies and other decor but I am using a whipped cream frosting and I wonder if I should pick a thicker frosting. How do I achieve a beautiful smooth iced finish like the professionals do? Also can I strart with the decorating as soon as it is iced and do I need to freeze/refridgerate it after it is done?I need LOTS of advice on icing/decorating a birthday cake.?
You should be fine freezing your cake but you dont need to do it overnight.Just a few hours usually. If you are using whipped cream on a cake, do it close to serving time and keep the cake refrigerated until its time to cut and serve. Your whipped cream will soften and ';melt'; long before it spoils on a cake at room temperature!! Below I have added a link for a site with a great buttercream recipe. I have used it a lot and its very easy

As for how to make it look pro...look below

For the best results, use an offset spatula, which allows for even spreading and keeps your hand away from the cake.

Before frosting, cool cakes on a wire rack. Brush away loose crumbs with a pastry brush, then cover the cakes in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for two hours.

For a smooth finish, lightly mist the cake with water after applying the final coat, then use a spatula to smooth out bumps.

Step 1. Unwrap cakes, and place one layer on a cakestand. Slip strips of wax paper beneath the edges to keep the stand clean. (Place stand on a lazy Susan to make frosting easier.)

Step 2. To frost between the layers, place about one cup of frosting onto center of layer, and sweep outward with the spatula. Leave a 1/2-inch border around the edges.

Step 3. Place unfrosted layer bottom-side up on frosted layer. Apply a thin layer of frosting to the entire cake to seal any loose crumbs. Allow to set in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.

Step 4. To frost the top of the cake, place about one cup of frosting onto the center of the cake, and spread to the edge. Cover the top with an even layer of frosting.

Step 5. For the sides, load spatula with frosting, and lightly push it toward the cake as you turn the stand. Continue spreading until the cake is evenly coated; let set before decorating.I need LOTS of advice on icing/decorating a birthday cake.?
    go to birthdayexpress.com
I decorate cakes as a hobby that's gotten a little out of control.

I freeze cakes because I bake them in advance. If you want them to be more secure when you ice them, take them out about an hour before you ice. If you're confident enough, you can take them out before you go to work.

If you are doing a tiered or stacked cake, you should probably level your layers so it doesn't look lopsided. Remember to use supports.

To smooth icing, here is what I recommend:

Put an extremely thin layer on the cake first. This is called a ';crumb coat';. It will get a bunch of crumbs in it, but don't worry. Stick it in the fridge for 10-15 minutes so it sets. I'm talking really, really thin. You should still see cake. After the crumb coat sets, start by icing the top. Glop a lot on at once, then smooth it out. Remember, it's easier to take icing off than it is to put it on. It took me a few cakes to get good, smooth sides. It just takes practice, so don't get frustrated. An added trick to get smooth sides is to run your spatula under really hot water so it gets hot, dry it off quickly, and smooth.

You should be able to put little candies and such on a whipped icing, but I have found the most success with buttercream.

Once you're done with the cake, put it in the fridge until you are ready to serve it or deliver it.

Remember: it takes time and practice, but just have some patience and I'm sure your cake is going to rock!!! Good luck!!!
Don't freeze the cake, defrosted cake tastes terrible. Just take out the cakes, let them cool in the pans for about 15 minutes and then put them on a cooling rack. You can cover them with a dishcloth overnight. Whipped cream icing will probably never give you a smooth finish. Regular powdered sugar icing would be best. To make it really smooth you need to get a sheet of typing paper and run it along the icing once you cover the cake or a metal spatula and a cup of water--(you dip the spatula in the water and smooth away--try not to make it too watery--in some cases you can use a paper towel to soak up the water--just let it slightly touch the water and not the icing. Also, make sure that after you make your icing you pop it into the fridge for a little bit so it will be easier to smooth out. Most decorators cut the top off then place the cake with the cut part down if the cake is too rounded at the top. If it isn't too rounded they might just pop the rounded ends together and fill them up with icing. You can start decorating the cake as soon as it is iced. After it is iced you don't have to refridgerate it unless it is whipped cream icing or has a filling. My mom has been a professional cake decorator for ages, I used to go to her cake decorating classes with her and I have seen many a cake made. When you make your cakes don't forget to smooth on some shortening with your hands or paper towel and then drop a little flour on it, sift it around and dump it out so your cakes won't stick. Good luck.
No need to freeze or refridgerate before starting your first coat. Just need to be cool. First you can turn the first (bottom) layer upside down. But you may want to level the other layers.

Second Frost it it 2 coats. The first coat will be thin. It is called a crumb coat. Refridgerate it until firm. Then apply the second coat. Ice the top and then the sides. The sides will rise above the top. Knock them over INTO the top. this is the technique used at bakeries. It does take PRACTICE.

It is better to refridgerate before decorating. this will give you a firmer surface to work with.

If you are planning on stacking many layers, such as wedding cakes, wooden dowels are used inside the cake, between cardboard/plastic bases, to give it strength and support.

Hope I have helped. Good Luck!

  • Can someone give me advice on buying a motorcycle?

I've never owned a bike and I want to buy a Suzuki Katana 750 GSXf (ideally or something similar). What should I look for in a used bike? What are some common problems with these bikes? How many miles should the bike, ideally, have? And what's the oldest year I should consider? What other questions should I ask about the bike?

I'm trying to learn to play electric guitar, does anyone have advice as to how to go about learning?

Sometimes I see the chords and I just don't know the tabs, are there any basic songs that you should learn in the beginning?I'm trying to learn to play electric guitar, does anyone have advice as to how to go about learning?
Don't bother learning any songs you don't want to learn. It's all very well advising someone to play 'Twinkle twinkle little star', but why bother when you could learn to play something equally simple but way more fun, such as 'Louie Louie' or 'Wild Thing'?

You need to know what note is represented by the contact of any string with any fret - i.e., that when you fret the high E string at the second fret, you get F sharp, or when you fret the D string at the 16th fret, you get the exact same F sharp. Learn the basic chord positions and learn to play bar chords - that will free you to play many different chords in different places on the neck.

In the 50s and 60s, many of the players who would end up being in the great British invasion bands (the Beatles, Kinks, Yardbirds, Who etc) learned the rock'n'roll songs of Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Ray Charles, Little Richard, Eddie Cochrane etc. There's a reason for that - those songs were pretty easy to play on guitar, and they provided the absolute bedrock vocabulary of rock guitar as practised today. The shreddingest player you can think of is building on the foundation laid by Chuck Berry - he or she is not doing anything fundamentally different. These days it's faster, louder, more distorted and with more complex scales, but the basic principle is the same: take an electric guitar and make it squeal.

If you are having difficulty, stick with stuff that is simple but effective. 1960s garage rock, by bands like the Kingsmen, the Sonics and the Standells, is not hard to learn but it's great stuff - especially the Sonics, one of the wildest bands ever to record. Listening to this stuff will broaden your knowledge of music and if you learn to play it, it will improve your sense of rhythm no end. These guys didn't play flashy solos but they rocked like nothing else.I'm trying to learn to play electric guitar, does anyone have advice as to how to go about learning?
yes actually. you could learn simple songs like twinke twinkle little star (it may seem childish but it WILL make you a better player) or just start playing some of the scales you can find online. And if you are serious enough about it, than i would look into gettin private lessons

Stay at home mom advice...how can I keep my kids content during the day?

I am a mom of two boys - a 3 year old and a 1 1/2 year old. My kids, especially the 3yr, get pretty bored during the day. Does anyone have a routine or schedule that keeps their small children happy and content during the day that you could share?Stay at home mom advice...how can I keep my kids content during the day?
Well if you are crafty (which I am not..lol) you could invest in some arts and crafts that are age appropriate ie..finger paints.. you can also turn on the radio and just dance and have a goofy, crazy fun time =)...It is great exercise and fun fun fun. My kiddos love dance time. Also I keep healthy snacks on the ';snack table'; such as gold fish crackers or cheerios. I stay home with five..(well when the three oldest boys are'nt in school). You could also have a ';science and nature'; time of the day, where you go outside and study things such as leafs and bugs and dirt..lol, boys love getting dirty hehe.. I have four boys and one girl. Good luck and have fun =)Stay at home mom advice...how can I keep my kids content during the day?
I use to work at a daycare and this was our schedule:

8:00 - play time, inside or outside

    9:30 - snack

11:30 - 2 Nap time/ movie time (movie time only when they wake up)

    2:30 - snack

3:00 play time - inside or outside

you can take them to a park near by or come up with activities to do inside on rainy days or do messy/fun ones outside on a pretty day
Here below are top 10 fun things for you to play with your kids through out the day.

Have a good time with your kids!

Anyone have any good advice for a beginning break-dancer?

Or know of any good websites with advice?Anyone have any good advice for a beginning break-dancer?
hmm. just make sure you don't break anything or any part of your body. i guess you have to take formal lessons for it so you'll know how to move that move...a couple of gymnastics too will do.Anyone have any good advice for a beginning break-dancer?
Give it up - break dancing went out 20 yrs ago
Aren't you about 25 years late on that one? Or is break dancing making a come back?
look for videos online. There are several websites that explain how to do various break moves, but reading is not going to mean you know how to do it. You need to practice. You need to stretch a lot so you don't pull muscles. I bought a piece of linoleum remnant to practice on. Go outside and put it on the grass so you don't bruise yourself all over. Bring a boombox so you can practice moving with the flow. Some other things you can do is learn Poppin %26amp; Lockin and liquid. They are fun and go well with breakin. Breaking is fun but very physically demanding. Look for a guy called ';Breaker.'; He has videos. Start with the basic stuff like 6-step and swipes. Also, toprocking is important in any break routine to keep it flowing and looking good.

    Keep calm.

If you need to pause before answering a question, so you can think, then don't be afraid to do so.

    Sit up straight.
