Does anyone have any advice on how to get your foot in the door to get a position as a new Teacher?

I am a newly certified EC-4 ESL Generalist and will be adding the special ed cert next month. I have been trying to get my own classroom for a year now. I've applied online, been to job fairs, and worked last year in a Title I school as a tutor. I'm wondering if anyone else went through any other avenues?Does anyone have any advice on how to get your foot in the door to get a position as a new Teacher?
It's all in who you know.

I moved to a new area and spent 2 years subbing. My resume couldn't have been any better and I had applications out everywhere.

After subbing I got to know the teachers and principal. Low and behold, when a position came up in the summer, one of the teachers I had subbed for tipped me off and told me to call the school. I got the job and I'm in my third year teaching.

Talk to the principals and get to know the teachers that work in the schools! Good luck and hang in there! It will work out!!Does anyone have any advice on how to get your foot in the door to get a position as a new Teacher?
Volunteering is the best way to get your feet into the door and subbing is good, too.
